President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Housing Agenda recorded a fresh milestone on Tuesday with the commissioning of two major projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT): the Express View Estate Phase 1 and a shopping complex in Lugbe.
The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Rt. Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, who performed the commissioning, said the development signals the government’s determination to provide mass housing across the country.
The new Lugbe estate, located on three hectares of land, comprises 50 housing units built by BAM Construction Company on 1.5 hectares, while the adjoining shopping complex is designed to serve residents of FHA estates in the area.
Ojo disclosed that under his 17-month leadership, the FHA had visited governors of all 36 states and the FCT, securing the donation of free land to support housing projects nationwide.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development under Arc. Musa Dangiwa, working with the FHA, will mobilize under the good intentions of Mr. President to provide mass housing for the first time in the country,” Ojo declared.
He praised state governors for not politicizing land allocations, stressing that their cooperation would help fast-track the delivery of affordable homes to Nigerians.
Ojo further pledged that housing would be allocated purely on merit and availability, cutting across cadres and social classes. He also recalled the recent commissioning of Ajoda Estate in Ibadan, assuring that the FHA would complete and deliver all ongoing projects across the federation without abandoning any.
According to him, reforms are underway to transform the FHA into a digital, one-stop agency capable of providing more efficient housing solutions.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Musa Dangiwa, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaibu Belgore, reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding access to housing under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He explained that the Ministry had launched several nationwide programmes to ensure that affordable housing is accessible to Nigerians regardless of social or economic status.
The highlight of the Abuja event was the unveiling of the Lugbe estate and shopping complex, which will provide homes and essential facilities for dozens of Nigerian families.
