The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has urged Public Relations, media and protocol officers of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to deploy their professional skills towards strengthening stakeholder trust and protecting the organisation’s reputation.

NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, gave the charge in Abuja on Thursday in an address to participants at the 2026 annual workshop for NYSC PR, Media and Protocol Officers.

The workshop, themed “Managing Perception, Protecting Reputation: Communication Strategies for NYSC,” brought together relevant officers from across the country and the Federal Capital Territory for capacity building aimed at improving communication and service delivery.

According to Neliaku, organisations do not attain greatness by chance but through deliberate and sustained efforts, making communication professionals important contributors to institutional growth and reputation.

“An American business researcher and author, Jim Collins, once said that great organisations do not stumble into global relevance. They deliberately design their way there. All of you seated here today are key pillars upon which the greatness of NYSC will rest,” he said.

He urged the participants to consistently demonstrate professionalism and excellence as representatives of the NYSC, saying effective communication was essential to building and sustaining trust among key stakeholders.

Neliaku also called for increased participation by NYSC officials at the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), scheduled to take place in Abuja from Nov. 15 to 21, 2026.

He reaffirmed NIPR’s commitment to providing platforms that would support communication professionals in strengthening their capacity and adding greater value to their respective organisations.
