The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online following concerns from Nigerians and other stakeholders about access to the document.
The development was contained in a statement issued on Monday, October 26, by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee.
According to the statement, the register, which was physically displayed at registration areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, is now accessible through the commission’s online platform at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
The physical display was conducted in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026, to enable registered voters to verify their particulars and submit claims and objections as provided by law.
INEC said the decision to publish the register online followed concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders about the need to expand access beyond the physical inspection exercise.
The commission said it was processing claims and objections arising from the exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the final register of voters on December 15, 2026.
INEC reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, as preparations continue for the 2027 general election.
