A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Prince Abdulrasheed Muideen Romeo, has criticised the leadership of the Osun State House of Assembly (OSHA), particularly the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Wale Egbedun, over allegations of diversion of local government funds by APC council chairmen.

Muideen, who is also a House of Representatives hopeful, described the Assembly’s actions as “busybody activities,” insisting that such moves cannot rescue the image of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

He urged lawmakers to channel their energy towards proper oversight of the state government’s activities, rather than what he termed an attempt to mask the administration’s shortcomings by blaming former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

According to him, the APC local government chairmen remain the legitimate and constitutionally empowered occupants of their offices, citing the February 2025 judgment of the Court of Appeal, which he claimed was not challenged by the state government.

“The APC LG chairmen are autonomous, constitutionally and legally empowered occupants of the local governments owing to the Court of Appeal judgment, which the state government did not appeal,” Muideen said.

He further alleged that instead of approaching the Supreme Court, the Adeleke administration was poorly advised and resorted to filing matters at a Magistrate Court.

Muideen concluded that the era of neglect of grassroots development under the current administration is ending, as local government chairmen are now positioned to deliver democratic dividends directly to the people.

“The dividends of democracy are now reaching the grassroots through the local governments,” he added.
