Adebumiti Emerge Chairman Of Ondo Online Media Professionals, Promised Balanced Reportage Of Members

The Ondo State chapter of Online Media Professionals has today elected new leaders to pilot the affairs of the body in Akure, the state capital.

The election was held at the Conference Hall of the NUJ Press Center in Alagbaka, saw the former SA, Media and Publicity to Hon. Bode Ayorinde and publisher of The Precision NG, Hakeem Adebumiti, emerge as the Chairman.

Speaking during the Inauguration ceremony conducted immediately after the election, Comrade Adetona Aderoboye, Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the State, who was represented by the council’s secretary, Leke Adegbite, charged the online Journalists to maintain the quality and professional reportage of news, devoid of bias.

Aderoboye, said the council recognises the efforts of the Online Media Professionals in adding value to the profession most especially when it comes to investigative journalism in the state.

The NUJ chairman added that members of the Online Media Professionals should uphold peace journalism and never undermined a peaceful society as “no one can practice journalism in a state of anarchy.”

While responding to the charges, the newly elected Chairman of Online Media Professionals, Hakeem Adebumiti, assured the people of the state of balanced reportage devoid of sentiments.

Adebumiti urged the new executives to live above board and work towards the development of the association.

He added that members of the Online Media Professionals will continue to promote and work in tandem with the ethics of the profession.

In his remarks alao, the Secretary of the association, Temitope Adedeji, thanked the electoral committee and various stakeholders for their supports and encouragements at achieving a working association.

The newly elected executive members are:

  2. Joseph Olusola – Vice Chairman (News Track)
  3. Temitope Adedeji – Secretary (WesternPost)
  4. Isaac Olasainde – Assistant Secretary (The Patriot)
  5. Mary Agidi – Treasurer (Jats Online)
  6. Israel Fagbemigun – Financial Secretary (Nigerian Cable News)
