Adeleke’s Reckless Attack On President Tinubu Shows His Desperation, Fear Of August 15 Defeat — Osun APC Campaign Council

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke over remarks he made against President Bola Tinubu during a campaign event, describing the comments as “reckless, inflammatory and a sign of desperation” ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director-General of the council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, the APC alleged that Adeleke threatened that Osun could witness a repeat of the 1983 political crisis if he loses the forthcoming election.
The council also accused the governor of making what it described as false allegations that President Tinubu was withholding federal allocations meant for the state’s 30 local government areas.
According to the APC, the claims are “false, distasteful, irresponsible and completely unsubstantiated,” adding that they reflected what it described as the governor’s frustration over an impending electoral defeat.
The APC said, “They are nothing but a manifestation of the frustration that has enveloped the outgoing governor as the reality of an impending electoral defeat continues to stare him in the face. The governor is crying wolf and running amok like a bereaved wizard, thinking that such theatrics could appeal to the emotion of stakeholders in the Osun project, who have rejected him over his incompetence and poor performance in office, and make them vote for him at the polls.
“Governor Adeleke’s attempt to blackmail the President and paint him as an enemy of Osun people is another desperate strategy to demonize a genuine democrat whose commitment to constitutional governance and the rule of law is well established.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the legally recognised local government administration in Osun State receives the statutory federal allocations due to it every month. It is therefore incorrect and deliberately misleading for Governor Adeleke to accuse President Tinubu of withholding local government allocations. Such falsehood is aimed solely at misleading the public and tarnishing the impeccable democratic credentials of the President.
“It is rather ironic that Governor Adeleke now seeks to portray himself as a victim of political intimidation when, since 2022, no fewer than 30 members and supporters of the APC have been killed by the Accord Party thugs believed to be sponsored by his administration, with at least 10 of those deaths occurring in recent times.
“It is hypocritical that a governor, who through executive fiat recently set some hardened criminals such as Esubiyi, Faronbi, Small Rugged free from prisons and unleashed them to kill and maim members of our party, is playing victims and wailing on top of his voice. It is equally strange that a governor who has been harbouring political assassins such as Emir Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Alowonle, Abbey Ashipa, Solo Iwara and other criminals on the blacklist of the Nigeria Police would suddenly shed crocodile tears before the electorate.
“Governor Adeleke will account for the diversion of the ₦2 billion Federal Government grant released in 2023 for the procurement of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to improve public transportation in Osun State. Similarly, he will explain how his government stole the ₦17 billion ecological funds received by the state in 2024 and 2025, as well as the management of the over ₦1 trillion revenue that accrued to the state under his administration. Every kobo belonging to the people must be accounted for in accordance with the law.
“The people of Osun have made up their minds to embrace a new era of responsible, transparent and people-oriented leadership under the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.”
