Akeredolu Vs Jegede: Election Tribunal Adjourn Hearing To January 12

The Ondo election petition tribunal siting in Akure, the Ondo state capital has adjourned further hearing of the petition filed by PDP & its candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN till January 12, 2021.

The flag bearer of PDP in the October 10 governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, had approach the election petition tribunal to challenge INEC’s decision declaring Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN of the APC as the winner of the election.

In a report gathered by Daily Metro News NG, Justice Umar Abubakar when reading the pre-trial report told counsel that the court would be opened on Mondays and Fridays between 9am and 2pm. He added that there would be two hours break during the sittings.

The trial judge also told counsel to ensure that their reports are ready before 8.30am everyday.

Abubakar added that counsel to the parties, PDP, APC and INEC would not be more than five. He therefore announced the adjournment of the court to January 12.

APC and PDP Counsels appealed to Justice Abubakar increase the number of counsels from five to seven or eight in order to allow them have a speedy deliberation.

The sitting lasted for only about 30 minutes.
