An aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra and Chairman, United Nigeria Airlines (UNA), Chief Obiora Okonkwo has resigned his membership of PDP ahead of the November 6 governorship election.

In his letter of resignation addressed to the National Chairman of the Party, dated July 24, Okonkwo stressed that his decision was final.

He said he had equally written to his ward chairman in Ogidi, Idemili North local government area of Anambra State.

Okonkwo, who was one of the 16 governorship aspirants that contested the June 26, 2021 primary of the Party had earlier accused the party of non level play ground for contestants as some aspirants were unduly favoured.

He listed some of the reasons for his decision as unresolved litany of Court cases in the party and PDP not practicing real democracy.

Okonkwo also maintained that PDP would not give him the needed platform to serve his State.

Though he had not announced the political party under which he would contest the November 6 election, but recall that Daily Metro News NG had reported from a close reliably source that his move the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) is at its final stage.
