BREAKING: Senate Screens APC’s Lauretta Onochie, Others For INEC Job

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Committee of the Senate on Thursday began the screening of Lauretta Onochie and other nominees for appointment as National Commissioners of the electoral body.

Onochie, who is a card carrying member of the ruling APC and Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, is already in the Senate Chambers waiting to be screened.

The President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR had early this year nominated Onochie for the job.

Leaders of other political parties, civil society organisations and lawmakers, among others, had condemned her nomination by the President.

They argued her alleged partisanship does not qualify her to occupy the position.
