The allegation of certificate forgery leveled against Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and one of its members, Edobor Williams at an Abuja Federal High Court has been dismissed.

In his judgment on Saturday, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, held that the plaintiffs failed to prove their claims that Obaseki forged the academic certificates that he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the September 2020 governorship election in the state.

Justice Mohammed said he found as lazy, the attitude of the plaintiffs, who did no make any efforts to crosscheck from the University of Ibadan (UI) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC), who issued the certificates they claimed the Governor forged.

Recall that in the build up to the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo state, Obaseki defected to the opposition PDP while seeking reelection after his former party, the APC screened him out of the primaries.

Thereafter, He defeated the eventual candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
