The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says it is expanding free Wi Fi services and strengthening digital infrastructure across the country’s international airports as part of efforts to improve passenger experience, operational efficiency and emergency response.

Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, said technology had become the foundation of modern airport operations, with the authority investing in broadband infrastructure and smart systems to enhance service delivery.

“Technology is no longer optional; it is the foundation of the modern airport experience. We are closing the connectivity gap by strengthening broadband infrastructure, delivering free Wi Fi across our international airports and deploying smarter systems that improve operations, empower our workforce and enhance emergency response,” Kuku said in a post shared on FAAN’s verified social media platform on Friday.

She said every investment in technology was aimed at building safer, smarter and more efficient airports capable of meeting the growing expectations of passengers and supporting Nigeria’s aviation sector.

According to Kuku, the deployment of digital infrastructure will not only improve connectivity for travellers but also strengthen airport operations, support employees with smarter tools and enhance emergency preparedness across FAAN-managed airports.

The initiative forms part of FAAN’s broader airport modernisation programme, which focuses on improving customer experience, expanding digital services and aligning Nigeria’s international airports with global aviation standards. Recent initiatives include the rollout of free high speed Wi Fi at major international airports in partnership with the private sector and the deployment of technology-driven solutions to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.

FAAN has maintained that continued investment in technology and digital innovation remains critical to developing safer, more efficient and globally competitive airports while meeting the needs of millions of passengers who use the country’s airports annually.
