Kogi Gov. Bello Suspends Internal Revenue Service Management

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has announced the suspension of the management of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service with immediate effect.

The suspension was contained in the governor’s statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Muhammed said the Governor’s action was informed by the alleged violation of corporate governance in the agency’s service as revealed by its 2019 Audited Financial Report.

He said; “The governor decided to ensure that the service carried out its activities with excellent corporate governance, utmost transparency and accountability.”

Muhammed added that the Governor has also approved the constitution of an interim management committee to oversee the daily affairs of the service in order not to create vacuum in the government.
