The Speaker of Lagos House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of Nigeria, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa and other members of the Assembly have assured the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Tokunbo Abiru, of their full support in the coming Lagos East Senatorial By-election in the state.

The House Speaker, Obasa, spoke when the former Polaris Bank MD/CEO led his ‘Tokunbo Abiru Campaign Team (TACT)’ on a visit to the Lagos State House of Assembly complex.

Obasa said; “I want to assure you that you have our support already. It is the responsibility of all of us in this House and not those from Lagos East alone to support you.

“It is not your election. It is our election because whatever the outcome, it has implications on all of us, our party in Lagos, and what will happen in the next general election in of 2023.”

The NATION reports that, as part of moves to further endorse the candidacy of Abiru as the sole candidate of the APC in the Lagos East Senatorial District by-election, youths in the area will organise a meeting between his campaign team and the constituents.

The meeting, to be held under the auspices of Lagos East Senatorial Youths Strategic Mobilisation, will be an interactive session between Team Abiru, students, youths and other residents, Daily Metro News has gathered.

Abiru’s senatorial ambition got a boost on August 30, following the endorsement of his aspiration by youths and students from Lagos East Senatorial District.

The objective of the meeting, according to a statement by Fagbodun Oluwadamilare and Ademola Adefolaju, the group’s convener and secretary, is for Abiru to meet and familiarise with organised students, youths and formidable organisations in the area.

The group said it had consulted widely and assessed the credentials and antecedents of everyone who showed interest to represent Lagos East and decided to endorse, support and vote for Abiru.
