The Executive Chairman of Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon. Prince Kayode Adebambo Aroloye, fcpa, has emerged Best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria for the Year 2022 at the just concluded Local Government Merit Award (LOGMA) in Abuja.

The award was put together to celebrate local government officials both public and civil who have distinguished and dedicated themselves to serve the people at the grassroots. No doubt, local government is the closest level of government to the people.

It was a funfair event at the Merit House, Abuja yesterday as Hon. Prince Kayode Adebambo Aroloye, fcpa, Chairman of Idanre LGA was announced as the Overall Best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria. The award was keenly contested by all Executive Chairmen across Nation but the sterling achievements of Prince Aroloye gave him edge over other Chairmen.

The Director General of National Council for Arts and Culture and Chairman of the Occasion, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, CON, in his Keynote address appreciated the organisers for maintaining the integrity of LOGMA till date. He reiterated that Local Government Areas in Nigeria should have a full autonomy because the Chairmen have grassroot knowledge of what citizens in their communities face and are better able to profer solution to present challenges that they are facing from their vantage point.

Runsewe also advised that Chairmen and Traditional Leaders should be respected because of the enormous task they are confronted with. He admonished the Chairmen across the nation to do their best to serve the people especially the Awardees of today.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Kayode Aroloye appreciate the organisers of the award for taking note of his activities and he also appreciate the efforts of those that helped him win the award, his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Executive Governor of Ondo State who gave free hands for them to operate at the local government and all his party Leaders.

Aroloye said: “I thank LOGMA for this honour, I never knew our little efforts at the local government was being monitored. This is a call for us to do more for our people. I must appreciate my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) that gave me the platform to contest, I thank Mr Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for his support, he gave us free hands to operate. I appreciate my party Leaders for their unflinching support.

“I also appreciate the people of Idanre who gave us the mandate and also created an enabling environment for us to govern them, if their was no peace, we won’t be here today. I appreciate my Vice Chairman, all the Ward Councilors and the entire local government staff. Their corporation gave us this award, I can’t have a better team than you all.”

He also appreciated the efforts of his wife, the Royal home and all the traditional Leaders in Idanre for their support.

At the event to celebrate with the winner were; Princess Dora Rose Kayode-Aroloye, Wife of the Chairman, Hon. Yemi Olowolabi, Fmr. Commissioner Ondo State, Prince Adedoja Aroloye, Mr. Biodun Akintade, PS Pension Board ODSG, Hon. Niyi Akinnibosun, Vice Chairman Idanre LGS, Comr. Blessing Akinlosotu, President Nigeria Youth Congress, Hon. Akinnaso Ige, Hon. Leye Akinlalu, Comr. Adejala Gbenga, former NULGE Chairman, Comr. Adeyosoye Robert NULGE Chairman, Mr. Adeuti Ayodeji and other important dignitaries who graced the occasion, Deacon Ojo Akintola, Media Aide to the Chairman.
