Dr. Nafisat Makinde, ABUJA

The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has inaugurated new executives for its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Zone and elevated the Gudu Prayer Group to a full branch status as part of efforts to strengthen institutional growth, leadership continuity, youth inclusion, and community development within the organisation.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Sunday at the NASFAT Islamic Centre in Gudu, Abuja, brought together Islamic scholars, community leaders, members, and invited guests from across the FCT and beyond.
The event marked the formal transition of leadership from outgoing executives to newly appointed officers who will oversee the affairs of the zone and the newly established branch for the next two years.
Speaking during the ceremony, the outgoing FCT Zonal Chairman of NASFAT, Dr. Nasir Raji Mustafa, described the transition as part of the organisation’s structured spiritual and administrative framework designed to ensure continuity, accountability, and sustainable growth.
According to him, the Gudu Prayer Group underwent years of monitoring and institutional development before meeting the requirements for elevation into a full branch. He highlighted key achievements recorded during his administration, including the establishment of the Gudu Branch, development of a school project, and installation of a modern Information and Communication Technology centre.
Mustafa disclosed that the FCT Zone has expanded to nine branches and one prayer group under his leadership, attributing the growth to teamwork, commitment, and support from members and stakeholders.
“As we hand over, we are confident that the incoming leadership will consolidate on these achievements and take NASFAT to greater heights,” Mustafa said.
Also speaking, the outgoing Vice President II of NASFAT Worldwide, Alhaji Ijiroba Maruf Adedokun, described the inauguration as a reflection of the organisation’s structured governance system and commitment to continuity.
“The progress we have recorded within a short time is remarkable. It reflects the dedication of our members and the grace of Almighty Allah,” Adedokun said.
He urged members to continue promoting Islam through peaceful coexistence, exemplary conduct, and positive character.
“Islam is best promoted not through conflict, but through our actions and character in both public and private life,” he added.
Delivering a lecture at the event, the Chief Missioner of Ansar Ud Deen Society, Abuja, Professor Musa Olaofe, stressed the importance of financial sustainability, education, and entrepreneurship in ensuring the long-term survival of religious organisations.
“Religious organisations must invest in education, ICT, and entrepreneurship to remain sustainable and continue contributing meaningfully to society,” Olaofe said.
He also emphasized the need for deliberate succession planning and youth inclusion within leadership structures.
“Within a defined tenure, leaders should set clear, measurable goals. Leadership must not be monopolised. Young members should be empowered to contribute and grow within the system,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of young members, the newly inaugurated Youth Secretary of NASFAT Gudu Branch, Mr. Abdullazeez Damilola Oseni, said youth participation remains essential for continuity and innovation within the organisation.
“Young people remain central to the future growth of NASFAT, and we are committed to contributing meaningfully to the organisation’s vision and development,” Oseni said.
Similarly, the Women Secretary of the branch, Hajia Fausat Bolanle Abubakar, emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in spiritual, educational, and welfare programmes within the society.
“Women remain critical to community development, education, and welfare programmes that directly affect families and young people,” she said.
Also speaking, the newly inaugurated Vice Chairman of NASFAT Gudu Branch, Alhaji Akonde Abiodun Tiamiyu, pledged commitment to effective leadership and called on all newly appointed officers to actively discharge their responsibilities.
Activities at the event included Qur’an recitation, goodwill messages, lectures, unveiling of the Gudu Branch Council, administration of oath of office, and presentation of certificates and official branch symbols to the newly inaugurated executives.
