Ogun 2023: Court Nullifies PDP Governorship Primaries, Orders Fresh Poll

A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, has nullified governorship primaries conducted by the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Ogun state PDP held three parallel primaries, producing different candidates for the 2023 Governorship election, one produced Hon. Ladi Adebutu as governorship candidate.

In his ruling, Justice Oguntoyinbo, after nullifying the primaries, ordered a fresh exercise within a reasonable time to accommodate all interests and groups.

The suit decided upon was filed by Prince Adesegun Seriki and three others against Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP.

Prince Seriki and his Co – plaintiffs sought the Court’s explicit order to enforce their rights as the rightful and legitimate PDP candidates for the 2023 general elections in Ogun State.
