Wike Orders Extension Of 2.4km Kaura Road To Improve Connectivity
Dr. Nafisat Makinɗe, Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed the extension of the ongoing 2.4-kilometre Arterial Road S1 project in Kaura District to connect with Arterial Road S20 (Oladipo Diya Way), a move aimed at improving road connectivity within the district.
Wike gave the directive on Friday during an inspection of the project in Abuja, which is scheduled for completion in December. The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Press, Office of the FCT Minister, Rabi Musa Umar.
“The first segment of this road involved building the bridge, but we have directed that it be extended,” Wike said. He added that the extension would improve access to Kaura District and strengthen the road network.
The minister said construction was progressing as planned, noting that the project’s three-span bridge had been completed. He said the FCT Administration would continue to release funds to enable the contractor to complete the project on schedule for delivery in December.
Wike said the road would improve movement within the district and support development in surrounding communities. He added that improved road infrastructure could encourage private investment and create employment opportunities.
The 2.4-kilometre Arterial Road S1 project was inaugurated in September 2025 to link the Fire Service Station in Kaura District with Ring Road II. The project is intended to improve access, support emergency response and promote urban development in the Federal Capital Territory.
