An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Lagos state, Olajide Adediran has declared his readiness to run for the Lagos governorship election in 2023.

Adeniran (42) stated this while speaking with newsmen in Lagos. He said he has been organising empowerment programmes and organising party members in preparation ahead of the poll.

The seasoned journalist and businessman assured his followers that he will not step down for any aspirant, neither will he settle for positions like deputy governor, House of Representatives nor senate.

Adediran, did not disclose the identities of his sponsors or those backing him, but stated that former Lagos governor and Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, is not his sponsor.

He said he had started mobilising the grassroots for his ambition, boasting that he has structures across all wards and local government areas of Lagos state.

The aspirant took cognisance of the ban on activities of groups and caucuses in Lagos APC and the fact that the party has not kicked of preparations for 2023 electioneering.

He named ‘Lagos for Lagos,’ ‘Team Jandor’ and ‘Eko United’ as the three structures working for the actualisation of his ambition.

Adediran said those saying that he lacks experience because he has neither be elected or appointed into public positions have forgotten that he as a journalist have understanding of the system.

He acknowledged that many party chieftains have branded him as an enemy within because he had hit the streets without waiting for the whistle to blow.

Adediran said his home town, Badagry, has not produced governor before, adding that it is now their time.

He said he unfolded his ambition on the platform of the APC because nobody can fight for power from outside.

Noting that the #EndSARS protests gave an opportunity for young people to have a say, he said:”But, we need to have a say through election.”
