The former Chairman, Ondo State Local Government Service Commission and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Taye Akinyele yesterday congratulate the new Idanre Local Government Chairman, Hon. Prince Kayode Aroloye and his Vice, Niyi Akinnibosun on their inauguration.

Akinyele while speaking to journalist at Akure yesterday, admonish the new council boss to be proactive in his activities because the expectations of Idanre people are high and numerous.

Akinyele said, “I am indeed happy for my brother, Prince Kayode Aroloye on his inauguration today, there is no better time to have him on board than now, not because of his Royal background or political association but because we all need a constitutionally recognised Executive Chairman in our local government.

“Idanre is a very peculiar local government, highly tasking to govern because of their hard working nature, therefore I will admonish the new council Chairman to be proactive in his plans, he must be swift in carrying out his plans because our peoples’ mind and expectations are very high.

The former Commissioner also advice the Chairman to be accessible and not rely on foreign policies and advice to govern, he said LG governance is local, grassroots effort and benefits and not from or for those abroad.

He said, “I advice the Chairman to make himself available and accessible because governance is local. If he wants to succeed, he must look inward and not wait for those abroad to direct him on what to do, he must believe in his team here.

“Yes, they can advice him but he must consider our environment and resources, because most of the things that work abroad don’t work here in Nigeria but for our tourism industry, yes, because they have recorded more success abroad than us”.

Akinyele said, “The Chairman must begin to relate more with the people now because of the task ahead, they need the governorship election more than Akeredolu himself, it is only Akeredolu that can allow them complete their constitutional term in office.

“He must begin to mobilise now, in this one month plus to election, he must prove that he is equal to the task as bestowed on him by Mr Governor,” Akinyele concluded.
