ASUU Set To Call Off 8-Month Old Strike As FG Pays N70bn Entitlements

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has agreed to call off its 8-month old strike after reaching an agreement with the federal government.

The union leadership reached the consensus during a meeting with the government team led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, on Friday, Nov 27, in Abuja.

It was gathered that Federal Government have also pledged to increase the total payment to the union to N70 billion.

This comes one week after the FG accepted the demand by the ASUU that they be exempted from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS)
