#EndSARS Protest: Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates 7-Man Judicial Panel to Investigate SARS Brutality

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated a 7-member Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution into SARS Abuses and Police brutality on Monday at the State Government House, Marina, Lagos.

The panel’s job is to investigate cases of brutality and human rights violations committed by operatives of the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, in the State.

The panel was headed by a retired Justice in the state, Justice Doris Okuwobi, the panel is expected to sit for six months with the mandate to thoroughly investigate all verifiable claims of abuses and fatalities arising from SARS engagement with citizens in the State, with the objective to bring erring officers to justice and get compensation for the victims.

The panel is expected to start work immediately.
