FG Fulfill Promises, Give Akure Explosion Victims Relief Materials

Smile sprang up on the faces of explosion victims as the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) on Thursday distributed relief materials to victims of a dynamite explosion, which happened on Saturday, 28th March this year along the Akure-Owo express road.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a dynamite-laden truck exploded at Eleyowo, along Akure-Owo express road that damages a lot of buildings and other structures which include an International School.

There was no death recorded in the explosion. The Director General of NEMA, Mr. Muhammad Muhammed, who led the distribution delegation to Akure, the Ondo state capital, said the token which the Federal Government has given was to ameliorate the losses suffered by the victims.

Mr Muhammed, who was represented by Ekiti head of Operations, Mr. Olusegun Afolayan, said this gesture of the Federal Government was the right thing to do after assessing the effect of the explosion on both humans and structures around the affected areas.

In his words, “I wish to use this medium to express our unreserved sympathy to the communities and Ondo State Government over the unfortunate dynamite explosion that affected people, their livelihoods, causing damage to property worth hundreds of millions of naira.

“These relief materials are a token from the Federal Government to ameliorate the sufferings caused by the disaster on affected persons.

“I implore the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously to lend credence to the Federal Government’s effort in bringing succour to the affected persons.”
