In what looked like a premeditated attack, the former Commissioner for Works and Transport in Osun State under the immediate past Gboyega Oyetola led administration, Engr. Remi Omowaiye was Friday evening attacked by suspected PDP thugs at the popular Isida motor spare parts market in Ilesa.

Daily Metro News NG gathered that Remi Omowaiye who is also from Ilesa was in the market to felicitate with market men and women over the yuletide by donating bags of rice and cow to the market leadership, this was ongoing when sporadic gunshots were heard and everyone started scampering for safety.

The thugs shot directly into a Toyota Highlander jeep belonging to Omowaiye, as another vehicle was axed and pelleted with stones, members of APC who accompanied Omowaiye to the market were not so lucky as the thugs were allegedly led by one Bayo Falade (Landlord), Rotimi Ojo (Rotimi Abu), Basit Alli (Basty), Tope Ilelowowa & Nurudeen Alowonle.

According to report, those who sustained injury during the attack were Ward 3 APC Youth Leader of Ilesa West, Opeyemi Oke, Tosin Adanlawo, Mr Odekunle, Ojo Agboola, Junior Olaojaoke.

Traders who witnessed the sad incident said the thugs were shouting Adeleke as they approached the market, acting on the instruction of the PDP leaders and Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking after the incident, Engr. Omowaiye confirmed the attack and said those people injured in his entourage have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment but queried why a peaceful man like himself will be a subject of assassination by the powers that be, in the state. He said the case had been reported at Ayeso police station and asked the security authority to bring to book persons behind the attack at Isida market.
