Group Set To Register 20m Nigerians On Responsibility To Salvage Country

An initiative called Project 20 Million, weekend, disclosed readiness to register 20 million Nigerians on responsibility to salvage the country from alleged lackluster leadership.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director-General, Ikechukwu Chukwunyere and Director of Admin, Tijani Ali Danjuma of the organisation at a press conference held in Abuja, where the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations In Nigeria (COCSON), Democratic Youth Magazine, Advocates of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill, journalists, students and other major stakeholders explained that the essence of the registration is to influence the process of decision making, ensuring accountable leadership and enthronement of good governance.

They also said it has become necessary to initiate Project 20 Million “So that only credible people and persons with great managerial experience can take up the responsibility of salvaging Nigeria from lackluster leadership.”

The coalition further said that the national flag-off campaign of Project 20 Million registration of 20 million Nigerians that will be chaired by Chief Daniel Okeke, is to seek for good governance, accountable leadership and social crusaders.

The statement reads in part, “Project 20 million will be flagging off campaign for the registration of 20 million Nigerians that seeks for good governance, accountable leadership and social crusaders.

“The Coalition Of Civil Society Organisations In Nigeria (COCSON), Democratic Youth Magazine, Advocates Of The Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill, journalists, students and other major stakeholders geared towards influencing the process of decision making, ensuring accountable leadership and enthronement of good governance have initiated this Project 20 million so that only credible people and persons with great managerial experience can take up the responsibility of salvaging Nigeria from lacklustre leadership.

“After the national flag-off we shall embark on registration across the 36 States, 774 Local Governments, 120, 001 units in Nigeria. There shall be both online registration, www.project20millionnigeria.org and physical at any of our offices located across the country. The national flag-off will be chaired by Chief Daniel Okeke.”

According to the coalition, Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong who also doubles as Chairman, Northern Governors Forum will be Special Guest of Honour, and the 36 State Governors as Guests of Honour.

“Other critical stakeholders invited include Sultan of Sokoto; Obi of Onitsha; Ooni of Ife; CAN President; NLC & TUC President; NUJ; NBA; NMA; NANS; NYCN; and NCWS.

“The national flag-off is scheduled to hold on the 24th October of 2020 at Shehu Yar’adua Centre, Central area, Abuja by 12 noon.

“Due to the COVID 19 guidelines, invitation is strictly by invitation. Other persons who wish to be part of this event can join online.”
