The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen has commended the judgment of the Abuja Federal High Court sentencing the Senator Elisha Abbo to the tune of N50m for assaulting a nursing mother at a sex toy shop in Abuja in 2019.
In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Shehu Maikai and made available to news men in Abuja said, “the judgment will serve as a deterrent to other male chauvinists, be they in high or low places, who take pleasure in harassing and maltreating Women.”
The Minister also gave the assurance of the ministry’s commitment to safe guide women and children against violence, she said, “the Ministry of Women Affairs and other stakeholders are determined as ever to take all necessary steps to checkmate all incidences of Gender based violence.”

MINISTER COMMENDS THE JUDGEMENT OF ABUJA HIGH COURT SENTENCING A SENATOR.
The Minister of Women Affiars, Dame Pauline Tallen has commended the Nigerian judiciary for sentencing Senator Elisha Abbo representing Adamawa North Senotorial district for assaulting Ms Osimibibra Warmate in 2019.
The Minister stated this in a press statement following the judgment of the Abuja high court delivered on Monday, September 28, 2020 sentencing the senator to a fine of 50 million naira for assaulting the woman.
The statement added that the judgment will serve as a deterrent to other male chauvinists, be they in high or low places, who take pleasure in harassing and maltreating Women.
The statement added further that the Ministry of Women Affairs and other stakeholders are determined as ever to take all necessary steps to checkmate all incidences of Gender based violence.
The minister concluded that there is no more save havens for rapist, Lady tomentors, and other gender based violators in Nigeria.
