IGP Disu Promotes 17,952 Officers Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has promoted 17,952 officers across the Nigeria Police Force.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, said this in a statement issued from Force Headquarters, Abuja, on 30 May 2026.
The promotion cuts across Commands and Formations nationwide.
The breakdown of the promotion is as follows:
165 Sergeants promoted to Inspectors
73 Corporals promoted to Sergeants
17,714 Constables promoted to Corporals
The Police leadership said the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve welfare and strengthen personnel management in the Force.
IGP Disu said timely promotion is important for motivating officers and encouraging discipline, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
He said the exercise reflects the Force’s commitment to merit, career progression, and institutional development.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to see their new ranks as a call to greater responsibility.
He advised them to remain disciplined, professional, and committed to protecting human rights and upholding the rule of law.
The Nigeria Police Force said it will continue to reward hard work and strengthen its operations nationwide.
